4 CT residents, including teacher and his student, killed in Vermont plane crash, police say

Vermont State Police identified those who died as Paul Pelletier, 55, of Columbia, Frank Rodriguez, 88, of Lebanon, Susan Van Ness, 51, of Middletown, and Delilah Van Ness, 15, of Middletown.

Pelletier was the aviation technology teacher at Middletown High School and Delilah Van Ness was taking flight lessons from Pelletier, Middletown police said.

"Our sincerest condolences go out to the family, friends and students who were affected by this tragedy," Middletown police said.

Middletown Public Schools canceled classes on Tuesday, with district communications director Jessie Lavorgna saying in a release that the "devastating news … has shaken our school district."

"Paul Pelletier, the remarkable aerospace and manufacturing teacher at Middletown High School; Delilah Van Ness, a cherished Middletown High School sophomore; and her mother, Susan Van Ness, were aboard the small plane that crashed," she said.
